| Australian stock market closes higher after strong rebound
The media sector was mixed. Consolidated Media edged 3 cents higher to $4.34, News Corporation dipped 7 cents to $22.53, its non-voting script lost 2 cents to $21.98 and Fairfax gained 11 cents to $4.04. The retailers were up, with Coles owner Wesfarmers 69 cents stronger to $38.00, Woolworths was up $1.42 to $31.17, Harvey Norman found 13 cents to $6.00 and David Jones edged 1 cent higher to $4.92. The most heavily traded stock was Centro Properties Group, with 93.5 million shares changing hands, worth $56.96 million. Its shares were 14.5 cents, or 30.21 per cent, stronger at 62.5 cents.
